Short CV Anna Brignola graduated with honours in Civil Engineering at the University of Genoa on December 2004. During 2008 she has been a visiting researcher at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, involving in the “Retrofit Solutions Project for the NZ Foundation of Research, Science and Technology (FRST)”. In 2009 she got the doctorate on Structural and  Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Genoa, defending a thesis titled “Evaluation of the in-plane stiffness of timber floors for the Performance-based retrofit of Un-reinforced masonry buildings”, awarded as the best 2009 PhD thesis on Civil Engineering of the University of Genoa (Gruppo Viziano award). In 2009 the “Accademia dei Lincei” acknowledged Anna for the support she gave to inhabitant of Abruzzo after the 6th of April seismic event. Since 2009 Anna has a post-doc position at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, University of Genoa.
Research Fields
  • Experimental testing: evaluation of the in-plane stiffness of timber floors, evaluation of the shear strength and stiffness parameters of masonry panels
  • Diagnostic survey and monitoring: direct and indirect diagnostic methods for the evaluation of mechanical properties of masonry and concrete structures
  • Management of the post-seismic emergency: damage survey of heritage buildings, design of temporary support interventions
  • Preservation of wooden structures: selection and design of retrofit techniques for wooden floor for both in-plane and out-of-plane actions
